I feel like every time Tuesday afternoon rolls around I get a case of the mid week blues. Its usually the point in my week when my head is flying in a million different directions, Iโm trying to wrap my arms around my endless to do list and the weekend seems so far out of reach. When I get to this point, Iโve found that these five simple things help me to turn myself around with in 24 hours to end my Wednesday on a high note.
- Wake Up Early: Anytime I end the day feeling down or discouraged, I made a point to wake up a little extra early the next day. For some people this might not sound enjoyable but if you can give yourself 15-20 extra minutes in the morning to do something you do enjoy, youโll start your day on a much happier note which can make all the difference. Some days I wake up early just to give myself a couple extra minutes to lay in my cozy bed and watch a few minutes of TV or listen to my favorite songs and check out instagram โ it makes me feel like itโs a Saturday morning.
- Make Plans: This is pretty obvious and self explanatory but among all the mid week craziness remind yourself to make plans for Thursday or Friday and give yourself something to look forward to. Even if its just penciling yourself in for your favorite yoga class or making plans to try out a new place for lunch later in the week. If you already have plans, check in with whoever you’ll be hanging with to confirm that youโre still on and talk about it to get yourself excited.
- Get Out: This one is always tough to do especially if youโre downing in work. However, it can make you 10x more productive if you give yourself a break and get out for some fresh air or a change of scenery. Even just 15 minutes can make a difference. If I really canโt get away from my computer, Iโll move to a different spot in the office with a better view. I also love getting off the L a few stops early on my way home and walking from there. This is a great way to squeeze in some exercise on a busy day too.
- Dress to Impress: I am a strong believer in the motto โLook good Feel Goodโ I always save my favorite outfits for Tuesdays and Wednesdays because I know Iโm gonna need to feel my best on these days. The outfit in my post today is a perfect example. This pleated mini skirt and sweater combo is super comfy yet polished and a sparkly accessory or two always adds a little silver lining (literally) to any bad day.
- Treat Yo Self: They donโt call it treat yourself self Tuesday for nothin. Even if youโre not suffering from the midweek blues, everyone deserves a little treat for getting through Monday. My go to treat is usually my favorite Starbucks drink (coconut milk cappuccino), ย a couple pieces of chocolate or a glass of red wine…but if Iโm being honest, I treat myself to at least one of those things every day….
Anyways, Iโd love to hear how you beat the blues too! Hope these tips help you get through the week. Were almost over the hump!
