Today I’m sharing the second post in my home decor series. This post is all about where I shop for home decor accessories and specialty pieces that make a space unique! If you missed it, my first post was all about shopping for larger furniture items like sofas and dining tables! I’ll also be sharing artists I love and where I get design inspiration in future posts. If you have any other specific home decor topics you want me to cover let me know! At the very bottom of this post I included a big round up of accessory items that I either have or am eyeing.
As I mentioned in my first post about shopping for furniture, I love Pottery Barn for casual decor pieces like pots, vases, trays & baskets, faux plants, candelabras, pillows and bedding. They always have really cute seasonal items too! Their home decor accessories work great in casual spaces like a family room, kitchen or a guest bedroom. I also can’t wait to shop PB Kids one day!
I see Ballard Designs as a more preppy/southern version of Pottery Barn so I look here for a lot of the same things I look for at Pottery Barn but for different rooms in the house. Their style works well in spaces that are a little dressier like living rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms. We found our bedside lamps at Ballard Designs and this mirror in our bedroom.
Lulu & Georgia is another great place to find casual laid back pieces and their price point is really reasonable. They have tons of chairs that make great accent pieces, some pretty throw pillows (we have this one on our bed) and really cool coffee tables and consoles. Lulu & Georgia definitely has a really specific aesthetic but some of their pieces look great in any space!
Wayfair truly has everything under the sun from kitchen appliances and light fixtures to throw pillows and backyard swing sets. This is where I go when I’m looking for more budget friendly accent furniture items. For example, I wanted a bench for the end of our bed but didn’t want to spend a ton of money on it since it’s not something we will use a lot and found this bench at Wayfair – also shown in the photo above! It’s perfect and really great quality for the price (around $200!). They also have tons of home accessories for mantles, bedside tables, dressers and cabinets at a great price point. When I find a piece that I want but it’s out of my budget, I can usually find something super similar on Wayfair.
I could spend hours on One Kings Lane. They carry a lot of great brands that an interior designer might use and have pieces to suit any style. I love shopping for things like lamps, light fixtures, rugs, side tables and really specialty pieces here. They have a great vintage section too that I take a look at every once in a while to see if I can find anything really cool. I haven’t looked into buying too much furniture from One Kings Lane because I prefer to try before we buying but we did buy these stools for our Kitchen Island and they worked out great!
I find these two sites to be pretty similar which is why I paired them together. They carry higher end specialty pieces that you might want to put in a living room, dining room or bedroom. Our marble lamps, that were a big splurge piece, are from Horchow. Right now I’m working on our living room and dining room so I’ve been spending a lot of time on these sites to find a cool statement chair, a unique coffee table and a pretty book case.
My favorite place to look for pillows covers is on Etsy – they are SO many people who sell pillow covers on Etsy and you can pretty much find anything you’re looking for. A couple Etsy shops that make really pretty pillows covers are MSstitchesbykatie, Chloeandolive, Trendy Nest, and Popocolor. Also when I’m looking for something that is super specific I look for vendors on Etsy who might be able to make something custom. We’re looking for tables that need to be a very specific size for our entryway so I’m considering reaching out to some Etsy vendors to see if someone can make us something.
Interior Designers & Small Shops
There are also quite a few interior designers that have their own shops with really beautiful and unique pieces. I also love discovering small interior design stores with a more curated selection of pieces on instagram. While the furniture pieces are usually pretty pricey, some of the accessories they offer can be a less expensive way to to bring their specific design aesthetic & and unique look and feel into your own home. They also usually carry some really cool artwork! A few shops that I love are below!
