As of late, I feel like I’ve heard one tragic, heart wrenching story after the next. It really doesn’t feel right to spend my night writing about a pink and white polka dot romper while hundreds of thousands of people in Texas just lost everything they own. It’s so easy to get caught up in the menial day to day troubles and stresses of life and I tend to forget that there are so many other people in this world who are in need, fighting a much bigger battle than myself.
For today’s post, I decided to round up some quotes that serve as a reminder to be kind, considerate and understanding of others and how important even the smallest act of kindness can be. As cliche as it may sound, you truly never know what battle someone might be fighting. You will never regret being kind especially it if helps to make a difference in someone else’s day.
I’ve also compiled some of the research I did on all of the different ways that you can help those in Houston. Red Cross is a great organization to donate to but keep in mind that there are so many other amazing organizations out there who need your support as well.
1. Donate to Feeding Texas, a network of food banks across the state.
2. Make a donation to The Texas Diaper Bank providing emergency diaper kits to displaced families.
3. Various organization have set up relief funds including United Way, Salvation Army, Global Giving, Heart to Heart
4. GoFundMe has created a landing page that gathers all of the campaigns on its platform related Harvey which provides so many different ways to help.
5. You can of course simply text HARVEY to 90999 to give $10 to the Red Cross or visit the Red Cross website to give any other amount. You can also donate blood through Red Cross.
Even if you’re not able to donate or already did you can still do a good deed for someone else today which might inspire them to pay it forward in their own way as well!
