Ever since I can remember, my favorite part of the day has always been putting together my outfit each morning. Even as a little girl, I loved picking out the perfect bow and “party shoes” go to with my dress for the day. Aside from my dress size, not much has changed. Although I do have an office dress code to abide by, I find so much enjoyment in coming up with ways to add a little flair to the traditional work wardrobe. I thought I’d share a few ways that you can add a little flair to your office attire.
Statement sleeves: Instead of playing with flirty necklines and hemlines as you might do with your weekend wardrobe, have a little fun with your sleeves instead – like this top. Whether it be a flair sleeve, ruffle sleeve, tie sleeve or balloon sleeve, opting for a shirt or sweater style that has a fun twist to it is a simple way to add a little flair to your outfit. When picking a statement sleeve top I go with a more neural color (black, white or grey) so it isn’t overly bold for the office. It also makes it easy to pair with fun prints which leads me to my next point.
Printed Pieces: I’m a huge fan of prints an any time I see a top or skirt I like, if it comes in a fun print I usually go for that instead of a solid color. Printed pieces are an easy way to make some of the basic workwear silhouettes (a pencil skirt or button down shirt) a little more fun.
Statement Jewelry: I rarely ever wear an outfit without a pair of statement earrings or a statement necklace. My go to for statement jewelry is J.Crew and J.Crew Factory. They always have very classic pieces that you’ll wear for a long time. Statement necklaces are a must for simple crewneck tops or button-down shirts. I love wearing a pair of statement earrings with patterned tops. I do tend to shy away from bracelets at the office because they can get annoying when typing on a keyboard.
Embellished Shoes: I’m a huge fan of fun shoes and I strongly believe that shoes can make or break an outfit. An embellished pair of shoes is an easy way for anyone to add a little extra flair to your look. I just got this adorable pair from Banana Republic factory and cant wait to wear them this holiday season.
