Over New Year’s Ryan and I went to Palmetto Bluff which is just about 30 minutes outside of Savannah, GA. We actually flew into the Savannah airport and a few days into our trip headed back to Savannah to check it out and do some shopping. Check out the second photo of this post and you’ll see the face of a girl who is READY to shop!
ย Anyways, if I’m being completely honest, I didn’t love the city of Savannah. I will say that I went in with very high expectations after loving Charleston so much and hearing so many people compare the two. Savannah is definitely much different than Charleston in my opinion but it definitely still has that southern charm and beauty. With all that being said, I’m still so glad I had the chance to explore the city and see what it’s all about!
SHOPPING: We started out on Broughton street for some shopping. I was hoping to find some really cute boutiques but there weren’t as many as I thought there would be. Broughton street is definitely more of the mainstream stores that I could find on Michigan Avenue. I wish I had done more research ahead of time on where the boutique, antique and gallery shopping was because I’m sure I just missed it! However I do highly suggest stopping into The Paris Market and Brocante on Broughton street – you can’t miss it!
CITY MARKET: City market is the four block open air market with tons of restaurants, live music and some gift shops. Ryan and I briefly walked through city market and it seemed a little touristy to me but I think we would have really enjoyed it if we were staying in savannah and able to sit back and day drink for a bit.
FOOD: We ended up stopping for lunch at The Grey which was fantastic! They had a bunch of small bites that Ryan and I shared and the most amazing chocolate chess pie. I had no idea this kind of pie existed but it was the best thing ever! It was the consistency of a pumpkin pie but Chocolate instead! I need to figure out how to make it so if anyone has a good recipe please let me know! Another restaurant that is supposed to be great is Husk if you’re looking for something different.
RIVER STREET: We took a quick stroll down River Street which was full of restaurants and bars. Again, this seems like another spot we would have throughly enjoyed if we were staying in Savannah and didn’t have to drive back later that day!
FORSYTH PARK:ย After lunch we headed over to the stunning Forsyth Park to walk around and take some photos before our drive back to Palmetto Bluff. We actually saw two stunning wedding ceremonies taking place during our stroll. How cool is it that you can literally get married in the park?! Talk about dream destination wedding.
That was pretty much the extent of our visit in Savannah but it was the perfect amount of time for us! If you haven’t had a chance to check out my post about our first day in Palmetto Bluff you can do that here!
