I finally got around to editing some shots from our New Years trip to Palmetto Bluff, SC and am so excited to tell you guys a little more about our stay at Montage Palmetto Bluff. If you couldn’t tell by my Instagram posts and stories, we had a blast. This trip was WAY overdue for the both of us and it was the perfect way to unwind from the holiday season and head into the New Year feeling stress free.
To give you a quick overview, we stayed in a river view cottage at Montage Palmetto Bluff which I would HIGHLY recommend. The cottage was far from what you’d image when you hear the word cottage. Each cottage also comes with two bikes which were a MUST for getting around Palmetto Bluff. Ryan and I stayed at Montage Kapalua Bay for our engagement trip which is why we were so drawn to Montage Palmetto Bluff. Montage Resorts are simply the best. They know how to make the experience beyond what you could ever imagine.
We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and left on Tuesday morning which gave us four full days. I thought this was plenty long for this time of year! Something that I didn’t know until we arrived is that Palmetto Bluff is actually a gated community spanning 20,000 acres. Its incredibly quiet and quaint in the best way and looks as if it were a fake town built for a movie scene. Its just about 30 minutes away from the city of Savannah, Georgia.
The Montage is the only hotel within Palmetto Bluff and while they don’t own most of the land, restaurants and residential properties within Palmetto Bluff they are closely associated with them and oversee most operations to ensure the quality and services matches their standards for their guests. This is part of what made the experience and trip so incredible.
All these photos were from our first full day of the trip which we spent exploring the resort area and “town” of Palmetto Bluff. After a very slow and relaxing morning, we got breakfast at Octagon Porch and then hopped on our bikes. We ended up in town and explored some of the small shops, took a look inside a beautiful church and stopped at Buffalo’s (pretty much the only restaurant in town) for a little beer and bubbly.
I obviously then made Ryan stop for a photoshoot on one of the stunning bridges that was still decked out in the most perfect Christmas decor. Another one of the reasons I love Montage resorts so much is that they do so much to make the experience and trip seamless. Each day they have an agenda of excursions, tours, lessons and other activities that you can sign up for. You truly never have to leave a Montage Resort wherever you are. That little boat you see in the back of some of my photos was a tour that was offered daily through The Montage. We didn’t take it but it looked like it would have been beautiful!
After a quick power nap, we ended the day with dinner at Coles, one of the restaurants within Palmetto Bluff. The Montage valet personally drove us over to Coles which is about 2.5 miles away from the resort so we didn’t have to worry about driving – see what I mean?! Cole’s is an awesome laid back restaurant with a bowling alley and game room (with pool, shuffle board, air hockey, etc) connected to the restaurant. I know what you’re picturing but no this isn’t a Brunswick bowling alley with a game room full of hunting and claw game machines. It’s like Ritz Carlton of Pinstripes.
Overall our first day was the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure! I can’t wait to share more about our trip soon!
