OUTFIT DETAILS
Dressing for date night during the summer months is usually pretty easy. I typically have several sundresses and skirts on rotation that look cute with anything from wedges to sandals. However, I always struggle a bit more when dressing for date night during the winter months. I recently put together this outfit for a family dinner and have since worn it for everything from a girls night out to dinner with Ryan and realized itโs this a great outfit formula for the perfect date night look, so I wanted to share it with those of you who might be struggling with the same thing.
Hereโs the formula…
Lightweight printed blouse:ย A lightweight blouse is the perfect layering piece for your winter wardrobe because it won’t be too bulky or heavy under other winter layers like a sweater, cardigan or vest.
+
ย A black or tan fur vest:ย If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m a huge fan of (faux) fur vests. The one I’m wearing in this post is actually feathers but its my all time favorite. Its so perfect for date night because its really light weight and adds such fun texture and movement to any outfit that is oh so chic. A a neutral brown fur vest and a black fur vests are both closet staples in my book.
+
Your favorite denimย I always go with my favorite denim for date night during the winter. Although I love dresses its just too cold. If you’re curious to know my current favorite denim are AG jeans. The pair I’m wearing in this post is my all time favorite. They are so comfortable and especially great paired with OTK boots.
+
Statement Earringsย ย Another item you may have noticed I’m obsessed with. I feel naked without some kind of earrings on and usually they are a statement earring. I love buying jewlery during this time of year because it is always extra sparkly and fun. While the pair I’m wearing here is pretty simple, you can find lots of great statement earrings that are an easy way to take a casual date night look up a notch.
+
Neutral Over the Knee Bootsย I wear my OTK boots every change I can get just because I prefer this style over a bootie but booties will work just as well in this formula. Back in the day I used to wear pumps and all that jazz for date night but If I’m being honest, I just don’t care enough to get that fancy for a random Friday night. Once in a while I’ll break them out if we have fun plans after but I think a casual boot or bootie is much more suitable for date night during the winter.

I TOTALLY AGREE ABOUT THE WHOLE BOOTS VS. HEELS FOR FRIDAY NIGHTS! I’M TOTALLY THE ONE THAT WILL THROWN ON AN EDGY PAIR OF BOOTS AND BE HAPPY – A PAIR OF OVER THE KNEE HEELED BOOTS IS NEXT ON MY SHOPPING LIST SO I CAN HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!
