Today’s post is a pretty random assortment of my make up favorites because I’m in the process of trying to settle on a new make up routine. Over the past several months I’ve tried several different foundations, primers, blushes, lipsticks, highlighters, bronzers, and mascaras. Although I haven’t settled on a completely new routine I’ve discovered a few favorite products in some of those categories so I thought I would share.
Foundation
I’ve struggled the most with finding a foundation that does what I want it to. For several months I was using the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation but I truthfully didn’t think it was worth the $70 price tag. Over the past few months I tested foundation by NARS, Make up Forever and Benefit Cosmetics and just didn’t love any of them. I was also a long time wearer of Urban Decay’s “Naked Skin” foundation but I just felt like it wasn’t working for my skin anymore.
I recently tried out this foundation and so far its been amazing. Its super light weight and I feel like it really stays on all day. They also have so many shades which makes it really easy to find one that matches your skin tone perfectly. Out of everything I tried this is definitely my favorite that I think I’m going to stick with for a while.
Another foundation that I was very pleasantly surprised with is L’oreal’s infallible Pro-Glow foundation. After reading several rave reviews from other bloggers, I decided to give it a shot (it’s $13 so why not?!). All I can say is that for $13 I LOVE this stuff. Its probably not the best foundation in the world but its a really great back up to have. I use along on the weekend when I want to throw on some make up earlier in the day but know I’m going to be redoing it later on.
Eyes & Eyebrows
I’ve had a pretty standard eye-make up routine for a while and really don’t switch up these products too often.
Eyeliner: For those of you know know me well, I’m ALL about the thick winged eyeliner. I used this liquid eyeliner for YEARS but when I started working I needed something that was more long wear. I switched over to this really popular eyeliner by Stilla and love it but recently discovered that NYX makes an $8 version that I love just as much.
Eyebrows: This is probably one make up set that I will NEVER change. I can’t tell you how much I love Anastasia’a eyebrow products. They are all amazing. I use the eyebrow powder in light brown and this brush. The brush really does make a difference and is worth spending money on.
Eyelashes: I recently stopped wearing eyeliner to work as often so on days that I don’t wear eyeliner I go with Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara. It definitely makes a huge difference I think this one is worth splurging on as well.
Primer
I honestly didn’t start wearing primer until about 6 months ago. I didn’t really get why I needed it but I was convinced to buy this Hourglass primer while I was trying to find a new foundation and I’m obsessed. Its super lightweight and literally makes your face feel like silk. Its pricey but you really don’t need a lot of product so the bottle lasts forever. You truthfully probably save money with this.
Lips
I probably have at least 50 different lipsticks and I really don’t have a favorite – I love switching it up especially as the seasons change but right now I’m loving these three. They’re all very similar colors but very different price points.
The one on the left is a Maybelline I have like 5 tubes of this and keep one in all my purses in case of emergencies. Its like $7.
The middle one by Sephora is something new I tried last week. I never really use lip liner but this product makes it easy. It’s a pen with one side that’s a lip liner and the other side is the corresponding lipstick. Definitely a much bolder look. I think this one is like $16
This Marc Jacobs lipstick was my favorite winter color from last year but I also just really love the actual product. Its super smooth – not too dry but not too creamy. The color is called Kiss Kiss Bang.
