Hi Guys! It’s been a minute since I’ve written a blog post and a lot has happened so before I jump back into all things fashion and lifestyle, I wanted to take a quick look back on the past 9 (+ a few) months and share my maternity photos taken by Ann of Ann & Kam Photography. Ann & her husband Kam photographed our wedding and it was so wonderful to have the opportunity to work with Ann again. She is such a talented photographer who has an incredible gift for capturing so much more than a photo – she captures raw emotions, feelings, connections and relationships. When she’s not photographing weddings, Ann offers a fresh take on portrait photography with an experience that empowers you to look and feel your best while capturing a special moment in time, which is exactly what she did for me with these maternity photos.
Looking back on my pregnancy, I am so thankful and feel so blessed that physically, I felt great and had a very healthy pregnancy, however, I struggled a lot mentally. I had so much anxiety about everything and it took a long time for me to let go of control and trust gods plan. I also felt so guilty about the time I was spending worrying and feeling anxious because I really wanted to be able to look back and only remember all the amazing, beautiful moments of pregnancy like hearing his heartbeat, feeling his first kicks, finding out his gender and seeing how much he grew between each ultrasound.
I had never really considered taking maternity photos until one day when I was catching up with Ann. She told me how wonderful it is to have something to look back on even if it brings back memories of swollen ankles, back aches and the worries that come with welcoming a new baby into the world because you will see the experience so differently once you have that baby in your arms. She also shared how special it is to be able to show your little one what you looked like when they were in your tummy – that sold me. I booked my portrait session with Ann and had these photos taken about a week and a half before max as born! The session included hair and makeup so I got to get all dolled up for the first time in a long time and Ann made me feel so comfortable and relaxed while she took photos of my bump (aka Max!). I actually felt like myself for the first time in a long time which I never thought would be possible at 9 months pregnant!
Now that Max is here, I love that I can look back on these photos and re-live my pregnancy and all the excited, joyful, happy and nervous emotions I was feeling through a whole new lens. It’s so amazing to see how far we’ve come and how much I’ve changed and learned in such a short period of time. Most of all, I can’t wait to share these pictures with Max when he’s a little older and can understand that’s him in my belly!
If you’re looking to capture a moment in time, a precious relationship, a major milestone or special connection with a loved one, I highly recommend working with Ann! Her sessions are so much more than your traditional portrait session, it’s a completely customized experience that empowers you and helps you feel your absolute best. We just saw Ann again a few weeks ago for a family portrait session with Max and I can’t wait to share those images with you all soon!!
