Happy Friday everyone! This Friday favorites post is one I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite things from Trader Joe’s – I’m OBSESSED. I have SO many more favorite things which I’ll continue to share over time but these are my staple items that I buy every time I go there.
I am a huge breakfast person so I always have a few options on stash at the office. These Strawberry Raspberry Instant Oatmeal Cups are my favorite. I love them because they taste natural. I hate the instant oatmeal that juste tastes like it is loaded with sugar. As much as I have a sweet tooth, I don’t like feeling like I’m eating a spoonful of sugar to start my day.
I also pick up a bunch of Larabar’s as a mid-morning snack or even an afternoon snack. The Banana Chocolate Chip is my absolute favorite. It tastes like chocolate banana bread. Its a bit hard to find this flavor and it says they are a limited edition so I really hope that doesn’t mean they’ll be gone soon. I also love the Cashew Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.
On the weekends, Ryan and I love making big breakfasts at home. These Toasted Coconut Pancakes are the BEST pancakes I think I’ve ever had including any I’ve had at a restaurant. If you like coconut you need to try these pancakes. The flavor isn’t super overpowering but it adds the perfect sweetness to your pancakes. I also love adding bananas and a little whip cream if I feel like treating myself!
I’ve tried to meal prep in the past but its just not for me. I really just love eating a fresh salad everyday for lunch. Trader Joes makes eating healthy SO easy. My ex-work wife, Savannah, turned me on to these. She always had these amazing salads for lunch. I thought she was spending tons of money on lunch everyday because in the loop something like this would probably cost about $8. Nope, these are between $3-$4 at TJs. I buy 5 for the week which comes to about $25 on lunch for the whole week.
They have at least 10 different kinds so I don’t feel like I’m eating the same thing for 5 days straight. The Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Chicken is my #1 favorites closely followed by the Super Spinach Salad. I’m pretty sure all their salads are less than 500 calories (including dressing) which is also great.
I’m also a huge snacker and usually need something to eat as soon as I get home from the office to hold me over while I’m at the gym or waiting for Ryan to get home.
The Whole Grain Crisp Bread honestly tastes like birdseed but its the perfect healthy base for some of my favorite spreads. However, these make for a really yummy healthy snack you top it with something yummy like TJ’s Spinach and Kale Greek Yogurt Dip. This stuff is amazing if you haven’t tried it I would tell you to go to TJ’s right now just for this. Its only 35 calories for 2 tbsps which is half the calories in hummus.
Trader Joe’s Bruschetta is also really good with a little bit of ricotta cheese on top of these crackers.
I also always pick up some plain Greek yogurt and fresh berries. I could eat this at any time of the day. I usually add a little bit of honey or agave nectar and some chia seeds. Its such an easy quick breakfast at home or snack. I prefer to use plain greek yogurt and add flavor and sweetener myself so that I don’t have to worry about hidden/artificial sugars.
The Cauliflower Pizza Crust is actually a much newer item on my grocery list but I’ve featured this on my instastories twice and got tons of questions! I have somewhat mixed reviews on this because if I’m going to eat Pizza I want to eat pizza. However, I’ve had this twice so I don’t hate it. I think I need to work on perfecting the crust and making it crispy enough because it can get a little bit mushy. Ryan hated it and said he would never make it again but I know I will. I you’re trying to eat healthier its definitely worth a shot though! Trader Joes does also have really great pizza sauce and pepperoni if you want to make regular pizzas at home too!
Also, if you don’t want to make your own cauliflower pizza Trader Joe’s sells pre-made cauliflower crust pizzas as well that I think are actually really really good!
There is no way that I would have been able to cover EVERYTHING I love from Trader Joe’s in one post so let me know if you liked this post and I’ll be sure to do another one soon!
