I asked Ryan what I should write this post about and his response was “Hey girls, do you want an outfit that you can wear to the Zoo and to get Margs with your girlfriends?!” I’m not sure how to take that but regardless, I love getting Ryan’s input on my outfits because even if they’re completely ridiculous they are usually pretty telling of whether or not the outfit works or if it make sense for where I’m going or what I’m off to do.
Although Ryan’s thoughts on this outfit are completely absurd (and a hopefully a joke) it kind of sums up my struggle with finding outfits to wear for a “night on the town”, if you will. Back in the day when I would go to clubs and bars every weekend, I always felt way too conservative compared to my friends who pulled off crop tops and tight dresses so well. I consider my style to be very girly and preppy, which isn’t always the best fit for a college bar or a club in the city. Instead of trying to fit in by wearing something that isn’t me, I’ve learned to just embrace my own personal style no matter where I’m going.
This look is something that I’d wear if I were to go out to the bars with my girlfriends and although its probably way more conservative than most its what I’m comfortable in. I also love finding pieces that I can wear for work and play because it makes for endless outfit combinations! I think I wear this grey peter pan collar shirt at least once a week because it goes well with everything from pants and a blazer to a skirt and a fur vest! My skirt is also a great basic for a night out with the girls. I have a million black skirts but this one is the perfect combination of sassy and classy.
My bag and vest are both still available and best of all they are on sale! I was on the hunt for a black feather vest for the longest time. I found this one and couldn’t pass it up. I love that it’s (faux) feathers as opposed to fur because its a little dressier and not so bulky so it goes well with dresses and skirts. Last but not least, this plum bag is the prefect pop of color especially with Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day celebrations coming up! I love getting decked out in red in pink but for those who don’t like to look like a walking valentine, this little pop of purple is a fun festive accessory for the upcoming festivities!
